BOND—Beginning Our New Direction—is a four-day program for new Longwood students from traditionally and historically underrepresented and underserved communities. The four days lead naturally into New Lancer Days, the college transition program that all new Longwood students participate in before classes start.

The BOND Peer Mentor program is designed to assist incoming first-year underrepresented student populations in their transition to college and to create an environment that provides support and resources to increase their sense of belonging and engagement with the university, which will result in supporting retention efforts.
Mentors gain leadership development opportunities, networking, and intercultural engagement.
Any current freshman, sophomore, or junior student may apply to serve as a peer mentor. The qualifications for participating as a mentor include:
Students interested in serving as peer mentors are expected to commit to the program for the entire academic year.
